Mission Statement:

Asheville Gluten Intolerance Group® is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Our Mission is to provide support to persons with gluten intolerances, including celiac disease, dermatitis herpetiformis and gluten sensitivities to live healthy lives.

April Event

The Gluten Free Food Fair- sponsored by Ingles Markets
Saturday, April 30th 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Doubletree Hotel in Biltmore Village
12 & over $1 donation for entry

There will be over 50 National Brand and local vendors who will be displaying, sampling and selling Gluten Free items and giving out coupons.

Cooking Demos, Speakers, Raffle Prizes.

Special "Ingles" rate for $85/nite at this hotel for this event.

We have all noticed an increase in Gluten Free products, companies, and restaurants, BUT are they really adhering to the rules for Gluten Free? What questions do you need to ask and when?

Directions to (Mission) Reuter Outpatient Center (home of Mission
Children's specialists) 11 Vanderbilt Park Drive:

From Hendersonville Rd. (between the Seventh Day Adventist Church and Rte.
40 at exit 50) turn onto Vanderbilt Dr. Follow this road around behind the
Asheville Cardiology building to the last building. There will be plenty of
parking. Look for a sign directing you to the correct door for entry.

Gluten Free Potluck Picnic

Bring your favorite, tested, gluten free recipes (with a copy of the recipe to share) Also bring meat for the grill if you wish. There will be paper products and drinks available. This is a very casual event. Come enjoy safe gluten free eating and the company of those who understand!

Chocolate cake in a mug (you will need to bring your own mug)

It will be held in Sheila’s Kitchen. Everyone will participate in the dessert-making! You will also need to RSVP ahead of time. More information will come in July.

How to Prepare for Disaster

With Hurricanes, winter snows and power outages, what do we need to do to protect ourselves? This is particularly difficult for those with Celiac Disease and Gluten Intolerance. We can’t just be taken care of like everyone else. We need to make sure that we have the supplies and ability to make sure we survive healthfully! Come hear practical and timely advice.

Come hear a dynamic speaker talk about Inflammation and Celiac Disease. What we should be doing to change our lives for the better! Jillian Sarno Teta (http://www.ncanp.com/Sarno.html) is a Naturapathic doctor. She has extensive training and experience in wellness and preventive medicine. She also spoke at the National GIG conference last summer about inflammation and celiac disease. She is a dynamic and energetic speaker!

Bring your favorite, tried and true, gluten free, holiday side dish, bread or dessert. Asheville GIG will provide the turkey and ham, drinks, and paper products. Come enjoy the camaraderie of eating anything on the table!
